Being

Belonging

Becoming

You may look completely capable on the outside and still feel far from yourself on the inside.

Maybe you have been carrying too much for too long. Maybe your life still works on paper — but something in you knows it no longer fits.

You may be tired of overthinking.

Tired of pushing through.

Tired of trying to figure it all out alone.

You may not need more advice.

You may need a place where the noise gets quiet enough for you to finally hear yourself clearly.

That is what this work is for.

When a woman feels safe enough to tell herself the truth, clarity follows.

And from clarity, right action becomes possible.

The horses just help make the truth easier to feel.

What if the problem isn’t that something is wrong with you?

Most women come to this work believing they need to try harder, think clearer, or hold it together better.

But the real issue is rarely weakness.

It is disconnection.

After years of adapting, over-functioning, caregiving, and pushing through, it can become genuinely hard to hear your own needs, your own truth, and your own next step.

This work is designed to help you come back into relationship with yourself.

Why horses?

Because horses respond to what is real.

Horses are nature's most profound truth-tellers.

They do not respond to the story you are telling, the role you are playing, or the image you are trying to maintain.

They respond only to what is actually happening in the moment.

They respond to presence, tension, breath, and truth.

Unlike humans who might placate or advise, horses provide an immediate, embodied mirror of your internal state.

They reveal your true boundaries, your hidden tensions, and the authentic signals your mind has learned to ignore.

That makes them the most honest witness women have ever stood beside.

This is not about becoming a horse person.

It is about experiencing a different kind of feedback — one that is immediate, grounded, and deeply clarifying.

No horse experience is needed.

Your Path Forward

Introducing:

The Guided By Horses Method

An approach to clarity that does not ask you to think harder, but invites you to listen more deeply.

This is not just more coaching.

It is not just more insight.

It is a grounded process of coming back into contact with what is true.

The truth is that more overthinking, more self-pressure, and more outside advice rarely solve a problem rooted in disconnection from yourself.

If you keep trying to push through or figure everything out alone, you are likely to stay caught in the same cycle of confusion, exhaustion, and self-doubt.

You may be wondering how this is different.

The Guided By Horses Method is not another program built around more advice or more analysis.

It is an experiential, somatic process that helps you notice what is real, feel what matters, and move forward with more clarity, steadiness, and self-trust.

There is a path forward. This is where it begins.

Who This Is For

This work may be for you if…

You know something has to change, even if you cannot fully name it yet.

You feel capable on the outside but disconnected on the inside.

You are tired of carrying too much alone.

You are second-guessing yourself more than you want to admit.

You are craving clarity, not more advice.

You are open to a grounded, experiential process of change.

This may not be the right fit if…

You are looking for a passive experience, a quick fix, or a casual horse event.

This is not clinical treatment, and it is not a one-time inspirational experience.

It is a coaching-based, relational, experiential process that asks for honesty, presence, and participation.

If you are ready to tell yourself the truth and take the next honest step, you are in the right place.

About Us

Hi there, Victoria & Josh Here!

"The art of teaching is the art of assisting discovery." - Mark Van Doren

At My Horse Journey, we believe that horses open doors to greater joy, deeper connections, and transformative healing. Blending the art & science of therapeutic methods with true horsemanship, our mission is to guide you toward profound realizations and meaningful relationships with horses.

Our Journey Together:
  • A Lifetime of Learning: Together, we bring over 50 years of experience in horsemanship, bodywork, mindfulness, and trauma-informed care. We are committed to continuous learning, refining our approach, and sharing our discoveries with you.
Our Story

My Horse Journey emerged from our own transformative life experiences, including overcoming enormous challenges and living off grid with our 3 teenagers and free-ranging herd. These experiences brought us to a pivotal realization: attunement with horses is intertwined with personal growth and self discovery - where real healing is relational and felt.

Your Guides on This Journey:
  • Victoria: Victoria brings 25 years of professional experience, an MSW, and a CSWA, with doctoral work underway as a PhD candidate in Somatic Psychology. Her background includes an apprenticeship in a world champion reined/cow horse program, where she trained and rode national and world champions, alongside extensive experience in horsemanship instruction and equine therapy co-facilitation. She blends deep equine knowledge with a trauma-informed counseling perspective, offering a compassionate approach to horsemanship and healing.

  • JoshA lifelong seeker and dedicated student of growth, Josh is a Doctoral candidate in Occupational Therapy with a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science. As a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) since 2001 and an authorized meditation teacher in the Sant Mat lineage for over 25 years, he integrates mindfulness with biomechanics expertise gained from research labs. This unique blend informs his relational approach to Equine Bodywork, combining science and mindfulness to create transformative experiences for horses and humans. Josh draws on his diverse background to design curriculums for My Horse Journey’s coaching and training programs. When not working, he pursues his passion for Indian Classical Music.

We're huge fans of epic tales and adventures – think Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and Spiderman. These stories, where heroes 'Answer the Calling' to embark on journeys of self-discovery and unearth deep truths from within, resonate, and mirror the transformative journeys we facilitate in our programs.

We believe every student is the hero of their own story, uncovering truths and growing along the way!

"I highly recommend it! It was a very rich learning experience and the cohort offered a great environment with other eager learning, horse loving riders.

Learning groundwork really built trust in my horse towards me and bettered our relationship! It's amazing how even a small amount of intentional ground work make a big impact on my relationship"

Mya Falk, Ranch Manager Bend Barley Beef

What excites me so much about this program is that it includes all of the elements that are most important to me. There's relational awareness and exploration of the self, the horse, the environment, and the cohort.

There's mindfulness and psychological awareness and exploration. There's biomechanics and equine science and psychology, and there's the most progressive horse training conversations that I've personally encountered.

Cara Gerau, LMFT, Equine Psychotherapist, Founder: Somatic Therapy of Marin
